There're two things emerged in my mind. First, I didn't aware comic strip name as Guli-Guli has ever existed in Malaysia. Secondly, I didn’t really know Lim Kok Wing (Tan Sri) has such talent to draw a comic. I just realized it when my eyes catched the book arranged vertically in UUM library. I decided to borrow since the book look interesting to me.
Guli-Guli is comic strips from the regular series which appeared in the New Sunday Times from 1982 to 1987. Lim Kok Wing used the three ethnic characters – Malay, Chinese and Indian to represent his artwork. From his artwork, he tried go further and highlight issues that are commonly discussed among the public into humor. It's called satire. It covers a vast range of subjects: family, education, politics, safety and health.
Inside, you'll find the drawing character is illustrated by using face based technique. The drawing is spontaneous with facial expressions to convey emotion in his art. In addition, the words invoke a lot of thought, a lot of conversation. Plus, it's a very quick + light + fun read.
The book published in year 1990 by Limkokwing Integrated.
